Giclee Prints
We have invested heavily in our own giclee equipment, and have our own printmaking workshop given over exclusively to the production of these images.
They are individually printed, which is why we are sometimes able to produce them to size, to suit your individual requirements. Giclee printing has been around for some years now, and has become widely accepted by astute collectors, especially since David Hockney’s giclee work has become publicly available. We pride ourselves on having been at the forefront of this medium since spending over thirty-thousand pounds on the finest equipment we could buy.
We can also print on paper or canvas. A print on canvas, when varnished with a UV protective type varnish, is virtually indistinguishable from an original painting, but because of the time involved, and because they are sized and produced to order, virtually ‘one-offs’, they are quite expensive, (approximately twice to three times the price of the same size on paper). This original print was produced when we were in Hastings, as the two towns are only a few miles apart. The church on the hill is a landmark for miles around, and the red coloured house to the right was our old home (one of many when I was peripatetic). The image of the Stade (G20) makes a good pair with this picture.

G10 - BOATBUILDING AT RYE WHARF
The owner of this boat is building it himself, rib by rib, and plank by plank. We are told he has been at it for ten years now.

I have written elsewhere about my love of little boats, and these are in the style of Christopher Wood, and later, John Piper. They look like little toy boats carved out of a solid block of wood, such as those I sailed on the Round Pond, Kensington.

This original print is of the fishing beach in Hastings, where the fishing boats are hauled up onto the shingle to await disembarking and puting out to sea again. There is also a view of Rye (G6) produced in very similar colours.

CAMBER CASTLE is not really situated at Camber, but is between Hastings and Winchelsea, and because of the tidal drift is no longer by the sea shore.

SING A SONG OF HASTINGS is a jolly ‘sing-song’ picture, that I painted to go in our daughter Ibby’s nursery before she was born in Hastings. She loves it, and I hope you do too.

DUNGENESS LIGHT sits on ‘The Ness’ as it is known locally. It is actually part of the Romney Marshes, quite wild and untamed. The lighthouse is a truly lovely old building, now superceded by a more modern light.
