Giclee Prints
We have invested heavily in our own giclee equipment, and have our own printmaking workshop given over exclusively to the production of these images.
They are individually printed, which is why we are sometimes able to produce them to size, to suit your individual requirements. Giclee printing has been around for some years now, and has become widely accepted by astute collectors, especially since David Hockney’s giclee work has become publicly available. We pride ourselves on having been at the forefront of this medium since spending over thirty-thousand pounds on the finest equipment we could buy.
We can also print on paper or canvas. A print on canvas, when varnished with a UV protective type varnish, is virtually indistinguishable from an original painting, but because of the time involved, and because they are sized and produced to order, virtually ‘one-offs’, they are quite expensive, (approximately twice to three times the price of the same size on paper). MABWS FAWR has already been described elsewhere, so suffice to say that this is another of a number of impressions of that place. It can be interesting to revisit the scene of a previously produced picture to discover the visual differences created by changing light and weather conditions.

G10 - BOATBUILDING AT RYE WHARF
The owner of this boat is building it himself, rib by rib, and plank by plank. We are told he has been at it for ten years now.

G11 - Pembrokeshire Coast Path
PEMBS COAST PATH was an early painting, but became a print quite a long time after it was painted. It shown a typical Pembrokeshire hedgebank, built high to act as a windbreak.

I have written elsewhere about my love of little boats, and these are in the style of Christopher Wood, and later, John Piper. They look like little toy boats carved out of a solid block of wood, such as those I sailed on the Round Pond, Kensington.

SANDY HAVEN is very much in the British Neo-romantic style, in watercolour, pen and ink. It shown the little haven just beyond the huge oil tanker port of Milford Haven.

FISHGUARD BAY (please see ‘South East from Garn Fawr’, above). With the last rays of the sun striking the hill above the harbour, many collectors feel that this image catches the ‘dark’ and broody nature pf the area.

SOUTHERNDOWN is a pretty little cove, just beneath the ruins of Dunraven castle in the Vale of Glamorgan, not far from Cowbridge. The syle of this image gave rise to a series of others.

When people ask, ‘How long does it take you to paint a picture?’,in the case of this image I can reply ‘fifty years!’, because I first saw an image of Grongar Hill when I was a teenager in art college.
